@billhookunion.beanyear.com do you know why obscure (to most CAN/USA folks anyway) citrus flavours are showing up in commercial products here? a recent redbull was sudachi and i bought a store brand calamansi sparkling water last week.

They’ve been trying to make Japanese and South Pacific citrus happen for a while It’s been an “up and coming flavor” since 2016 I remember I think the increased availability and popularity of bubble tea and Asian ice creams have reached a saturation that is moving it “mainstream”

Also a major supplier for Red Bull is a Japanese company www.thasegawa.com

the red bull was artificially flavoured and quite delicious (to me anyway). the sparkling water with natural flavours and it tastes nothing like a calamansi and barely like citrus even.

it reminded me of drinking "strawberry kiwi" in the 90s and trying to decide if it tasted like either
