personally think if the line is going to be “no gen ai in anything” then the you might have to consider divesting from AAA games entirely because this is just what the industry is now, whether they admit it so publicly or not

i do not think it's actually this black and white, AAA and indie developers will continue not to disclose AI code use unless they're required to. all you can do is draw your own lines and reward/encourage a world that values what humans bring to a project

I consistently believe that if you, as a developer, feel there's no moral issue with your use of AI, there really should be no issue with being required to disclose your use. I personally don't draw the line at code but do at voice & art assets. (simplified, full nuance doesnt fit in 300 characters)

Yeah, I was talking to a friend who's a judge this year for IGF and they were telling me about how many of the games that were using AI to code annoyed them, especially since they don't disclose it on other platforms.

there's been tons of "full AI" AAA projects already, peoples just don't know about them because they got cancelled before being announced because they went nowhere
