I did 1. yesterday. I had been absent from Twitter entirely since the Musk takeover. I couldn’t think of anything I specifically was interested to archive/export so I just let it go.

6. Deleted X app from phone. 6. Selectively imported follows with Sky Follower Bridge. 2. Exporting tweet archiving now for backup. 4. Will likely keep and lock, to preserve searchability and make it easy for people find me. I was angry, but now I'm just sad. Not feeling spiteful enough to delete.

Yeah, I've seen some concern about releasing a handle, e.g., below 👇, so I'm planning to hang on to the account for the foreseeable future. I'm looking forward to checking out the importers available! bsky.app/profile/xeia...

Update: doing what I wanted to do would leave my account name open for reuse. I can't risk that. I have to leave it tombstoned and locked. Fuck.

Or maybe tie him up and place him in the path of the bullet train… but he would have to actually finish it first and I don’t think we have that kind of time to kill

Nowhere near your following, but about a year ago I: 1 downloaded then deleted all content, likes & follows 2 profile pointed people to a page with other socials. 3 updated my name to "Eric is gone" Kept account open for occasional DMs & to hold the handle Recently rm'd as I so rarely checked it

I'm at 5 right now, but rarely browsing the bird site now that it's almost impossible to see anything useful among the algo spam there

When I gave up on it a few years ago, I used the API to dig round for things I'd like to keep and pasted them elsewhere. Was a fun learning exercise. API is no longer free, but I think you can request an archive and do similar poking around. neil-vass.com/exploring-yo...

neil-vass.comExploring your old tweets with the Twitter API, part 1 - neil-vass.comI’ve recently tried using Twitter’s built-in tools to help take a browse through my old tweets and see if there’s anything interesting there I’d like to use elsewhere. I’m sharing my notes in case you...
