They never say these are “bad” numbers though. These are “hot”, “higher” “disinflationary” (which I guess means still inflation but slightly less than before). You could clip this to a MAGA loyalist and they’d be cheering Trump for all the “positive” news. Kind of a masterclass honestly

GOP prospects likely took a beating from the CPI spike announced this week, but it looks like that was merely a mezzanine move as Trump’s precipitous economic collapse continues. Voters might not understand how much worse things will surely get for American consumers over next 18mos.

1.3% per month is more than 15% annual inflation. Yes, I know that's not how that works, but have you seen them do math? They say anything. I at least multiplied 1.3 times 12.

I still can’t believe Trump actually bragged yesterday about a 1.7% cumulative inflation rate over the last 3 months. Not even sure where he got that from, but that’s a huge rate!

Maybe basing an economy on imported food and goods using imported fuel while paving over local farm and production land wasn't so smart. We can't solve that immediately, but maybe we should stop chugging down that road while we figure out a better way?
