Dr Oz on health insurance: "I'm gonna give you the money instead of buying you insurance ... look, why have a buffet offered to everybody if maybe a few people want À la carte service? 'I'm young, I don't have kids, I'm not married ... '"

EXACTLY ‼️ I mean, if you’re young SURELY cancer won’t strike, you’re NEVER going to be in a car accident and it’s highly unlikely that you’ll ever be a victim of gun violence 😎. Somebody please explain to this idiot the law of large numbers, you know, the basis for the entire insurance market.

Calamities happen at every age. No one plans to be in an accident or develop a serious medical condition. Then they have a preexisting condition that won't be covered even if they could afford insurace. And that's not how we can keep insurance prices low. You don't insure a house after it's on fire.

It’s pretty easy for a guy worth $200 million to say if any medical issues arise to just pay out-of-pocket. A reminder, we have more millionaires and billionaires in the cabinet than ever in the history of the U.S. The people trying to govern us are completely out of touch.

There are over half a million health care related bankruptcies in the US, annually. The number of health care related bankruptcies in the developed world is NIL. You need Universal Healthcare, not Dr Oz cosplaying "care".

Again, you're health is tied to how good a job you have and how good the company is yo the employees. Dr. Dipshit Oz talks about health insurance brokers. Medicare for all! The "brokers" being our government that we pay into. Would also come with oversight.

This December, medical insurance companies are going to raise their rate by 11% going to small business companies and a 18% rate hike to individuals who purchase medical insurance. I can't wait to see how Dr Oz is going to explain that splendid trump driven expenditure without lying 😏

There used to literally be at least one dramatic movie a year where part of the central plot was a health insurance company screwing someone over. Crash, The Rainmaker, John Q, As Good as it Gets etc…

ProPublica did a story recently about an insurance company denying a man mental health coverage after he tried to commit suicide, TWICE. They said it wasn't medically necessary. Luckily he had a wife that wouldn't give up going after them, but it was obvious they were hoping she would give up.

Thats the choice young people make when the options are "health insurace", "student loans, and "food". If funds are limited (because its legal to for corporations to "require" a degree and pay "entry" wages), then thats the one that gets skipped. A value judgment. No one actually WANTS it. Douchebag

I'd rather have univeral healthcare😒 I'd rather not have to worry about wondering if I can afford to go to a doctor because its practically impossible to find a doctor or even a hospital sometimes who takes my insurance.

There’s already diff plans for insurance ie single, spouse, family. How do u know how much to give us, do u have a crystal ball to know what health issues we will face and how much we’ll need

Maybe a guy who is a dr. ought to be bright enough to know that being currently healthy doesn't mean squat when you have a medical emergency or when you are unlucky enough to lose the medical lottery. Our daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32. Too bad for her if she hadn't had insurance.

What? That's already what the ACA does, you choose a plan and the subsidy is the money. Only issue is depending on where you fall on the poverty scale those policies can still be very expensive, have high copays, insane deductibles, and deny needed healthcare services.

Letting insurance companies get billions in tax payer money is a huge issue. You can have a one payer healthcare system for sick, preventive ,chronic, and emergency care. People can still get private insurance for other services not covered, like many other countries do.

This is a fuckinf asshat who is chirping for billionaires who do not want you to have free medical / universal healthcare - this is complete nonsense. I dont smoke or drink, do drugs and am in perfect health - always have been - yet I got a stoke just under a month ago- no reason they can find

FUCK THIS LYING POS. my last plan premium was $900 (employer paid$600) with a deductible of $6600 and max out of pocket of $9100. That is nearly $20k if one ends up hospitalized for anything. They will offer $2k to pay for coverage at BEST! They think we are all stupid.

Like all in Trump's White House, Oz is as stupid as he is corrupt. But he has to be pretending that he has no idea how insurance works as he tells Americans to just roll the dice and hope for the best, so let's add cynically evil to his resume.

Not when you understand that the Right Wing brain is wired to be entirely selfish and incapable of contemplating 2nd & 3rd order effects. The Elites know they can keep mining this selfish short-sightedness to manipulate their peasant base into ceding power and acting against their own interests

Are republicans trying to lose elections? Talking about dismantling Medicare before an election that is dependent on old white folks on Medicare voting for republicans seems unwise.

This is one of the most stupid things I've heard someone in charge of a government healthcare agency say. What if you have an accident or you contract an infection or you suddenly fall sick?

You're right. My mistake. That's the first step down a slippery slope that leads to the kind of delusional thinking that makes people look for "commonsense" compromise deals with MAGA.

My father once complained about having to cover maternity care (while I was pregnant) because he wasn't ever going to have kids. I don't have his health issues but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be covered. So sorry but that's how this works. We cover each other. We need single payer.

Anyone can get cancer, get into a terrible car accident, have mental health issues, etc. Doesn’t matter how old you are. Yes, less young people need a lot of medical care, but it’s insurance in case you need it. Without or a less comprehensive plan could financial ruin a lot of people.

When I was young I thought I wanted the money. Then 2 kids came along. Then that INSURANCE WAS JUST LIKE ANOTHER PAYCHECK. The older you get the paycheck is nice BUT THE INSURANCE IS A MUST HAVE. REPUBLICANS FAFO.

It actually costs less to offer universal single payer healthcare. Those not working cost the system more by missing prevention and early diagnosis. Unless cruelty is part of the plan, then perhaps hoping the least able die is the cheapest?

The bill for an initial visit to my new primary doctor (my previous one moved) was $410 before insurance. Next time you pick up a prescription, see what it costs without insurance. You may be young, unmarried, no kids, but that means you take more risks. It’s just dum(b).

Pretty great that Dr. Oz has no idea why insurance is so important. Even a young healthy person can have a catastrophic illness or accident. We are the only country in the world where you can go bankrupt if you get sick and he wants to make it worse.

That’s why the original ACA made getting insurance mandatory, to increase the pool and lower the risk. But the Republicans lost their minds over that and got it scuttled

Well, we all know the young, single, childless never get cancer, MS, heart, kidney, or lung disease. It's time for the University of Pennsylvania to revoke his medical degree and apologize to all US citizens for their massive error. Maybe close the quack factory doors.

GOP who want your health insurance/social security, are still the darlings of MAGA. Why? “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.” - LBJ
