Lucas didn't write a trade dispute—he wrote a parable: when bureaucracy chokes life, empire rises. The blockade wasn't plot; it was prophecy. They missed the glyph because they wanted lasers, not lineage. #NarrativeSovereignty #SankofaCinema

Exactly. Traveling through hyperspace ain’t like dusting crops. Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova and that’d end your trip real quick, wouldn’t it?

He moved out of the ranch. He had plans approved by the county. When he was ready to build they said no. The number of things he did for free for the county was large. Even paid for a fire protection area. It made me want to move. I now live in Coachella Valley.

the thing with the prequels is not that the general idea is bad - a trade war could make an intriguing thriller movie - but that he wrote and executed them poorly. just like episode II. a story of forbidden love could be good but he's so bad at writing it. george is always a great big ideas guy

someone recently explained the plot involving Padme reversing the previous monarch's decisions which sparked the whole conflict which I had NEVER heard brought up, maybe don't gloss over crucial context and plot points in single lines of a massive text paragraph in the opening of a motion picture

It's well known that Carrie Fisher acted as his script doctor for The Phantom Menace. So think how it looked before she got through with it. You can almost tell where her droid scene work likely was. Same with The Last Jedi where she helped Rian Johnson with the script.

The trade route blockade was actually brilliant worldbuilding — it's basically the Suez Canal crisis in space. Real economic warfare has toppled empires over less, and Lucas knew his history. Sometimes the most mundane conflicts make the best drama.

In hindsight, its certainly less dumb than resurrecting a sith lord in the unknown part of the galaxy only to realize the spark the rebellion needed was a Yeee Hawww from Lando. And also killing Han Solo in favor of Poe Dameron… that was insanely stupid.
