hey for anyone who might want to actually own their kindle books instead of renting them, or who might be thinking of switching to kobo etc and will want to convert them to epubs, you now only have one week before amazon kills your ability to download its ebooks www.theverge.com/news/612898/...

What do you use? I have a Kindle Scribe and Oasis (RIP, alas) but I’d really like to extricate myself from the Bezosphere. I’m definitely getting everything I can from Libby or elsewhere but still wasn’t sure about hardware.

i have a kobo libra colour as my main and a kobo clara bw as my smaller alternative. i was also an oasis guy and the libra has the page turn buttons, which is why i went with it

Page turn buttons are everything! I cannot stand the swiping. The note taking feature on Scribe is actually really impressive but everything else about it is strongly mediocre.

Currently on Kobo site. Any thoughts on Libra Color vs Sage? Sage looks to be slightly larger and has audiobook capability (which I’ve never used with Kindle but, hey, you never know) and I’m not sure the color feature adds much for me. Do you actually read magazines or anything on it?

I too have an oasis but it is sadly it is still functioning perfectly. I get what I can from Libby, but don't buy from Amazon anymore. I get them from elsewhere and uhh get them onto the Kindle somehow.

It’s super easy to get books ON the kindle. You have a kindle email and just send it that way.

I haven't been able to do that lately. It throws errors with the files I'm sending, but they transfer via USB just fine.

Unfortunately it seems like that may be ending soon.

lol that's why this thread started, I should have scrolled up

I have a Fire. I was going to sell it. Now, I think I'll rip it in half and send it on to eWaste. Don't want anyone else being tempted to create an Amazon account.
