I made a carmalized onion stuffing for thanksgiving one year and I swear it took more time to cook down the onions than the turkey 😭

What? Ohhh you didn’t get the $350 piece of equipment then… well that would have cut your time down by at least a quarter…and we all know what you can do with that extra time…. Prepare the crudités of course 😈 😂

Life often rushes past, settling for superficial speed instead of depth. Caramelizing onions truly takes time and patience, much like self-realization. Do not seek shortcuts in your cooking or your character; true flavor and wisdom only develop through sustained, quiet attention.

The greatest lie is the accompanying picture. As a chef I know the techniques they used, and it's not in the recipe. Vibrant green beans in a casserole and nothing about blanching in the recipe, not going to happen.

Always -- *always* -- make more caramelized onions than you need for any particular recipe. If you're going to go through that bother, another 3-5 pounds of onions won't add much to your total effort and then you'll have it around for other things.

I've never made a 15 min recipe. It takes me at least that long to prep everything for a "quick" recipe. Everything I make takes at least an hour. (For the most part) And yes, caramelizing onions in 5-10 minutes is absolutely impossible.

15 min if the oven is preheated and all of your ingredients are pre chopped in individual bowls within arm’s reach, including the items in your spice rack. Cleanup not included

It takes me a good 45m-1h to caramelize onions for soup or pasta. No clue why any recipe ever acts like that’s a 5-10 min task. If I see anything that claims to be a 15-30 minute recipe I know to extend that lol they must meal prep all their ingredients at the start of their week.

"Simple recipe... first, get yourself a teaspoon of Pago Pago mountain pepper, ordinary black pepper won't do. Then you have to get a tomato that was picked at ground level but carried up Everest and back down in someone's sock ... "
