NIMBYism is when you're fine with the halfway house being built across town, but not on your block. Opposition to data centers is much broader than that and based on concerns about their pollution and energy use. No data centers *anywhere* without serious regulation.

You’re in the replies of a guy who runs a website that pays datacenters providers millions of dollars per year.

So? That isn't incompatible with people opposing a surge in data centers that are bigger and more polluting. Do you genuinely not understand this or are you playing ignorant?

One of the hallmarks of NIMBYs is a desire to have unlimited access to necessary infrastructure and its benefits, without having to solve any real problem associated with the infrastructure. It’s pretty apt here.

The fact that the companies who profit from the data centers don't give a damn about their impact is why people are so pissed. We have examples of the harm being done *and* the response from the people profiting.
