But ALSO: autistic people not doing any of those things RE jobs, marrying etc. still HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE FULFILLING LIVES. Our worth isn't determined by what we contribute to a (capitalistic) society. Our worth is that we are all human.

Not going to RT the facepalm stuff but just will point out that plenty of autistic people live fulfilling lives and contribute to society (and have jobs, and marry, and have children, etc etc.). (I don't want to RT the original thing because it just spreads it. Consider this before RTing pls?)

I believe the Idiot (RFK) was mostly speaking about what is referred to now as Level 3 Autism... you know, the ones who do not know they are autistic, the ones in the Special Needs classes, the ones he calls the "retardeds". That's my daughter... and that's who he wants to disappear...

I hesitated to say it, but I'm gonna say it: I appreciated Extraordinary Attorney Woo's representation; but, it kept getting close to pointing out that many ND behaviors often manifest in "neurotypicals," and I needed them to just say it with their whole chest... 1/2

I grew up being literally taught that - if your job doesn't create economic value equal to food and housing, then you don't deserve to have enough money for food and housing. It's a pretty horrific world view, and a lot of conservative policies are "justified" using this thinking.

American Conservatism managed to overrule the Catholicism here; "Sure, they deserve food and housing, but who is going to pay for it?" with the implied answer of "sure as hell not me" And thus we have food programs such as "Okay you can have some food but that food has to be terrible"

If anything, this Capitalistic society does everything it can to make Autistic people feel unwelcomed and unequal. So often, our differences are seen as burdens to the machine and "potential risks" to employers/bosses. There's a reason I don't say I'm autistic on my resume.
