Sometimes the whole game of catching prey is a bit too easy for Maalik. Leaves some struggle to be desired. It's as good of a time as any to spend playing with his food~

More major and meaningful progress today, hitting a big milestone with this collar to get it stitched and the foundation fully set in stone. Lots of tinkering, toiling and tedium to get it just right, but it's always worth it in the end! Super happy with how it came together.

This also provides a great example of how I stitch 'on the curve' so that when bent, the top leather isn't stretched and the liner isn't crunched. It wants to lay in the bend naturally as the top strap is slightly longer than the liner, so that both layers have zero strain!

Updates from yesterday! Got the two smaller leads/grabs done, used actual peened-over brass rivets for aesthetics and practice! Not as clean as I want but they're still just as strong. Also worked on the edge for the collar strap and sourced some solid brass locking buckles!

Update from today! Finished up one of the longer leads, continued using the brass rivets and got a bit better but still a ways to go to get them as clean as I would like! Also attached and formed the collar and liner, and have left it forming overnight for tomorrow!

Got the main burgundy latigo strap cut for the current collar project, then beveled, sanded and edge dyed today to match up with the chocolate brown cored liner! Also used the remainder of the strap to make some long and short latigo leads! #furry #leatherwork
