Frens, I'm happy to announce the launch of Listening Post, my native #macOS scrobbling app serving all your Apple devices. It recognizes nearby music, collects Shazams from your iPhone/ iPad/ Watch (no extra app needed!), and posts your listens to @last.fm, @listenbrainz.org, @rocksky.app, … 1/2

… Maloja, Bluesky, Mastodon, Apple Shortcuts, local files, and more. And it also supports Apple Music, Spotify, and Deezer. I've been working on that app for the last few months (and several rounds of beta), it's my dream scrobbler, and now it's available to everyone. Give it a spin, yeah? 😅 2/2

… and by that, after downloading and trying LP, I'm thinking there is no programmatic link between Apple Music app and LP with track played info, no? So it's the mic recognition route-only? I find that orange Mic popping up on regular intervals a bit distracting.

Yes, that's correct. I agree on the mic icon but there's nothing I can do about that. I might make LP grab Apple Music's "now playing" directly at some point (if there's enough requests for it) but right now it's *actually* listening, then matching via Apple's ShazamKit.

Just so I'm clear, can I use this to scrobble from Apple Music (local files in app, like old iTunes - not the streaming service) to Last.fm? I've not been able to do this for years, whereas Spotify has had no such problems. That, in itself, without the Shazam stuff, would be enough for me.
