crazy to find out that an air force serviceman plunged to his death on the field, right before a college football here game yesterday, and they just…played the game? why is the military rappelling into football games to hype up fans, anyway? is the answer that psychotic alcoholic minnesotan?

The marching band was right there on the field. Those poor kids watched someone die in front of them and had to continue performing for the game? Madness.

this wasn’t even a fan though, it was a planned opener for the game. and it literally happened right in the middle of the field. feels so incredibly stupid and preventable, to not have people repelling at high speeds from the ceiling

Same thing happened with Owen Hart. Plunged to his death midshow and the event kept going. Honestly can't recall any event where a tragedy stoped the show/game etc.

tons of people just watched the dude die, and they are saying they couldn’t stop or even pause the game because it would violate military privacy rules around the death of a service member new horrors everyday around here

They’ve been doing shit like this for decades. In open stadiums it’s parachutes or speed roping out of helicopters. This was a version of the latter but for domes.

I had understood that this was part of one of the propaganda displays that the US military has long been paying the sports leagues to have at games. Which were already deeply messed up even before this fatal accident. (For example: Having a B2 bomber circling over Pasadena waiting for half time.)
