Naive question, but these products are incredibly popular, what's the mechanism of their collapse?

Wrong question: they can easily collapse by overbuilding, creating deeply incestuous webs of financing deals where one leg falling leads to cascading failures. Collapse of many of these labs could indeed happen, *even though* the services are wildly popular and the tech isn’t going anywhere.
