This shit has been on my mind a lot lately, particularly w/r/t AI execs saying “there’s a 10% chance AI will kill us all” and actively embrace gov’t regulation. They don’t believe that, obviously. But they know that people will try to use AI for things like air traffic control…

Then accidents will happen, people will be “OMG IT’S SKYNET” If you’re regulated, you can displace the blame to the users because it’s the law. That’s a lot harder without guardrails.
