In OBS Studio 32.1 we updated the audio mixer and simplified audio monitoring. In 32.2 we removed the old options from the advanced audio properties. In 33.0 plugins and third party tools will require updates to use the new handling. You can still get the same results as before though! 👇

Likely not any time soon. The Wayland implementation is just not good enough, unless you want to have to manually set all your hotkeys from scratch every single time you switch Profile or Scene Collection.

I'm clearly missing something, why would that be necessary? Shouldn't OBS register the hotkey with Wayland, and then the internal OBS logic for what to do once that hotkey is pressed remain the same?

Should OBS unregister global hotkeys when you switch Profile/Scene Collection, or should your hotkey list in your DE's Settings contain all hotkeys from all Profiles/Scene Collections all together? What about when they don't allow conflicting/matching shortcuts?

OBS should manage the hotkeys and unregister the global/DE hotkeys on profile switch. That would bring the user experience for Linux OBS in line with other OS versions. If the OS doesn't allow the hotkey to be assigned because of duplicates then that error message should show when assigning the key.

If you want to be nice to users who edit hotkeys in the system settings then you check for differences in the DE hotkeys vs profile hotkeys when OBS launches and ask the user how they want to resolve the differences.

The global hotkey system doesn't give the app (OBS) that much control. The app just says "here are my assignable hotkeys", the DE does the rest. Some will allow conflicts, others won't. And any kind of saving/loading existing isn't part of the spec.

OK, that limitation helps me understand the problem better. I still think even having a single global set of hotkeys would be better than none at all. For people currently using the profile hotkeys on Linux (OBS in foreground) can OBS ignore the global hotkeys if a profile assigns a different key?
