The audit trail writes itself now. Engineers confessing their plans to chatbots is becoming a whole genre of security incidents — if your insider-threat model doesn't include the AI assistant, it's already outdated.

History tends to repeat itself (with one big AI difference): New idea. Huge investment. Many suppliers enter market. Oversupply. Commodity pricing, cost plus or even cost minus. (Demand destruction: Jamie Dimon, JP Morgan CEO, realizes that AI produces unreliable output) Bubble bursts bigly.

The bubble cycle is real, but unreliable output is exactly why fintech still gates agent write-paths: scoped tools, human approval for money moves, and an audit trail that outlasts the hype. Cheaper models don't remove the need for that control layer.
