I live in Southern Arizona. Most of the time I've been here we had a little snow once or twice a year. Not a flake last year or this year. No water coming down from the mountains into the washes near my home. And the oppressive heat arrives earlier each year.

Here in OR the mountains would release the snow back to us as water. Now we are going to have to build infrastructure to catch and release the rain. Taxpayers aren't going to want that expense but they are going to want water.

As an Oregon transplant that's been here for about 14 years, this is the warmest and driest winter I've experienced. I think we might have had frost twice? The first couple of years we moved here, it rained seemingly non-stop from October until April. The low level of snow worries me.

When I came up from S CA in '74 I didn't see the sun for two years ;) at least it felt like that. During a summer about three years ago we had 3 heatwaves that came from the N. I knew then things weren't ever going back to the normal we are used to. 🐸🐸🐸

In January, the CA snowpack was at just 59%, but after significant precipitation events and HUGE dumps of snow in the past month in the Sierras, CA's snowpack is at 70% today. Still low but not quite as dire as it was a month ago. I remember the severe drought around 2015. snoflo.org/snow/report/...
