My bff’s son works for Americorps and received a decommissioning letter today. DOGE is gutting the program. I’m so angry and disappointed DOGE would go after a program that does such good work. @marisakabas.bsky.social @kairyssdal.bsky.social @katiephang.bsky.social

Americorp is a great organization, though I would like them to pay these hard-working young people a living wage. My Bonus Son spent 4 years in service to this country while he figured out what he wanted to do with his life. Of course theyre cutting it - doesn't benefit billionaires.

Anything that does "good" is deemed disposable. Do not help your fellow man. Do not help those in need. Do not help to make other lives better. Every man for themselves. We are now in a nationwide episode of Survivor.

“I want people to know about what they did to Americorps. For many of us, this was our way to pay for college, to get away from home, to figure out what to do with our lives,” says 19-year-old Coloradan Noe Felix Burns, who was rebuilding houses in Philadelphia damaged by 2021’s Hurricane Ida.

“These programs are an important pathway for young people looking to have careers in emergency management and disaster work more broadly, so impacts will be felt in that way too,” Samantha Montano, an assistant professor of emergency management at Massachusetts Maritime Academy told WIRED.

DOGE discover disaster recovery's terrible inefficiency young people helping rebuild storm-ravaged communities without generating shareholder value. Job Corps volunteers pulled from hurricane zones because compassion offers insufficient return on investment. Suffering costs less than healing.

Exactly and programs like AmeriCorps and California’s Youth Service Corps work. They build community, teach responsibility, and support everything from disaster response to education. Cutting them isn’t cost saving it’s cutting the soul out of public service.

DOGE IS A FRAUD to COVER FOR the TROJAN HORSE dismantling the government and opening access to the national computer systems. They intend to shut down the electric grid and telecoms. The President of the EUROPEAN UNION told ALL HOUSEHOLD to PREPARE A 72 HOUR KIT. WATER will be the most important.
