Today's CBC have completely forgotten this CBC documentary, in its current coverage of the Ukraine War, and in its recent broadcast of the Alberta Separation Referendum results. The current CBC producers and editors should dive back into CBC's archives more often.

The troll farms were the crude layer. What metastasized since 2018 is the laundering: Kremlin lines seeded in fringe media, then picked up by US influencers and treated as legitimate debate on air. CBC could air that in 2018. Most networks wont touch the pipeline now.

a great read of the situation, and it of course culminated (far too late imo) in the Tenet Media indictments. today, Head Kremlin-asset Mobster is doing all the talking and media is happy to run the lies bsky.app/profile/tvmo...

A caution that Tenet indictments weren't a culmination, just an example. Disinfo operations can be pretty disaggregated, with lots of different things happening at once. Tenet was one instance with a pretty sloppy, blatant, easy to follow connection. (We still indicted only the Russian handlers.)
