haha, i had an australian shepherd who not quite did that, but ran through the ditch beside our home just after his bath. he didn't get nearly as muddy as that but he was white haired.

He enjoyed himself so much, nobody can be angry with him. But... how did you get him clean again? 😀😅😍

My dog did something similar. She dug an immense muddy hole and reveled in it in like 15 minutes time, a few hours before I was supposed to get on a cross country flight.I made my flight. Arrrrgh!

Good question, I hope a canid behaviorist weighs in. Might be to cool off, IDK. It could also be a scent thing, some do love to wear a strong "fragrance." Maybe doggo is donning an insect barrier? Or maybe their skin is a little itchy, & the mud mask calms histamines / restores pH balance?

They like the smell. It’s like a favourite perfume. The sulk when you wash off their new perfume is real
