Yeah but I was a kid in the 2000s and I didn’t really know how bad things were. I didn’t even know anything about the Iraq war or recession aside from it being something only the adults talked about, like gas prices and taxes

my nine year old had an overtired freakout about everyone bombing each other last night. “ITS JUST GONNA HAPPEN, WHATS THE POINT”

Does it remind anyone else of the aftermath of 9/11? It really strikes me that the current fascist vagaries really come back to the failure of persons in power at that time to rectify change, and instead retreated into jingoism without any sort of actual mourning or acknowledgement.

I grew up absolutely certain I'd die in a nuclear war. They are going to grow up cynical like GenX.
