Under pressure from the White House, the IRS is considering a memorandum of understanding that would give officials from DOGE broad access to tax-agency systems. It also lets them enter and adjust transaction data and automatically generate notices, collection documents and other records.

But wait, people. Before you criticize, think of the possibilities. Given DOGE incompetence evaluating Social Security data and claiming no "deduplication" within mere hours of accessing the 70-year-old ISAM/COBOL system, it's just possible we'll get refunds for duplicate IRS payments.

So you think you paid your taxes last year. You even have an electronic receipt for your payment. Just wait until you get a notice that says the IRS has no record of your payment and you must immediately remit...

Well, if we ever see Trump's tax returns now, it will probably show that he overpaid billions in taxes. As a contribution to America - because he's such a patriot. And never told us about because he's so modest.

My parents were WaPo subscribers in the 70’s. Half the block had Star mailboxes, half Post. I have subscribed to WaPo since and still do. That’s a long time Think of the ruin Bezos ‘ financial exposure in his main businesses is causing this paper and ask him to sell before it’s too late to redeem.

But why? "A Trump administration official said DOGE personnel needed IDRS access because DOGE staff are working to 'eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse, and improve government performance to better serve the people.'" They won't say why. Why would they need info the commissioner doesn't have?

"Under pressure from the White House" - we aren't supposed to have a king in the United States. However, it seems that we can't even get one person in a significant position to say "no" - forget any hope of a larger group banding together to deny what is blatantly illegal and harmful to America.

So wouldn’t this be “weaponizing” the administration against Americans and businesses? So where are the people with backbone calling this out for what it is besides being illegal???
