🇲🇱 A map of the current situation in Mali as attacks by the JNIM and FLA coalition continue. The coalition has taken control of Kidal, Tessalit, Tessit, Ber, and the mines at In-Tahaka. Not wanting to miss out, ISSP seized Labbezanga, but their attempt to take Ménaka failed.

JNIM has now also initiated a blockade of Bamako, which could slow the government from bringing adequate reinforcements to the already precarious garrisons in the east. With the coalition taking the military outpost in Ber, Tombouctou is now at greater risk.

As before, the operational areas of insurgent groups are shown rather than 'control', due to the fluid nature of the conflict. This map is a collaborative project with @thomasvlinge.bsky.social For media use of the underlying shapefiles, please get in contact with one of us.
