just checked on my server disk usage and realized i've had a degraded raid array for *four months* x.x

I was a tech for a long time, constantly hounding clients to back up their data. At home I had three 10tb duplicates. Fast forward to 2026, guess who hasn't done a backup in two years and had to save their own lifetime of data from a single clicking drive recently. 🥺 why am i like this

I *think* I have backups! I've never attempted restoration >.>

-backing oneself up really ought to be a function of the chip somehow -some days I wish the mess would all be lost, but then I'm not sure what would be left of me

i often think i'd probably give up self-hosting if i lost it all. but then i remember how i got here, and think, actually, i could probably set up most of the critical stuff again in a weekend. in the meantime. i should curate some photos and store them separately.

The photos are mostly all I care about. Like, I don't really need a 25 year archive of every OS I've ever used? I forget things, so I archive everything. But maybe I *should* forget some things, and be empty.
