🚀 The latest VS Code release brings new ways to work with agents, move between environments, and keep your sessions organized. 🧵 Here’s what’s new: aka.ms/VSCode/138 code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_138

📦 Keep agent work aligned with your project’s toolchain. Add a devcontainer.json, enable ⚙️ chat agentHost devContainer enabled, then select Use Dev Container from the folder submenu. Docker is required.

🔄 Keep your Codex session when you move between apps. Continue the same session between the ChatGPT app and VS Code, switch between Copilot and ChatGPT subscriptions, and use VS Code tools.

🧹 Keep finished agent sessions out of the way. Get a suggestion to mark inactive sessions as done after their pull requests merge, or configure automatic cleanup to mark and later delete them. (Preview)

🔀 Turn completed agent work into a pull request without leaving the Agents window. Review the title and description, choose draft status and merge options, then create the PR directly or ask your agent to do it.

🔔 See when an agent session needs your attention without switching back to VS Code. Enable ⚙️ sessions showApplicationBadge to get a badge for new results, input requests, or pull request checks that need attention. (Preview)
