Feeling like a genius for looking up Dungeon Crawler Carl images so I can learn I will hate hate hate every moment of this and not waste any money checking it out lol oh so it's just Ready Player One but if Ernest Cline listened to less dadrock and played Portal and Borderlands gotcha

It gets better as the series goes on, but I get why people are turned off by the style of writing. And I hate Ready Player One. This somehow worked for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Same! It's so funny any time I recommend these books it's always with warnings like okay the first one is the worst by a LOT. And I swear they are going interesting places with these concepts! I would never just recommend it blind 😭

That's totally okay the first book is not well written at all! I think later books have redeeming qualities also Jeff Hayes narration does HEAVY lifting esp in the first book. Again I think these books have some pretty large drawbacks which is why I warn people and don't rec them to everyone

The gonorrhea one is actually from what many fans consider the best book in the series. lol everyone has their own tastes, it's fine. I more cringe at the RPO comparison even though I get how it looks from the outside. Within the narrative Carl rolls his eyes at the names and descriptions of items.

I was trying to say there is a narrative reason for it rather it them just being bad or whatever. And the joke does evolve over the series. Sorry if it seemed I was arguing with you. Not my intention. Just sharing my opinion.
