I feel like almost the only thing you need to create a good <x> is to use it yourself and care about the details

Yeah. That is part of what I find making it hard to make good enterprise products. I am often developing things at a company or for a client that I don’t use myself, so getting their ideas and comments distilled into a product is a big part of the task.

I always appreciated when an enterprise would put me on the ground with the people who would be using the thing they were building (rare). It made it 10x easier to build for them when I could go for ride alongs and spend a day in an office or warehouse & ask questions about what worked and didn’t
