A company just reached out about a Forward Deployed Engineer role. I finally looked up what that role means. It is a customer-facing role where you build custom products on top of the company's platform for clients. Cool. I was basically doing that at one of my past jobs.

Useful thing to check in interviews — what's the IC progression pathway? FDE is becoming a popular role but I think can be tough because it's less clear how to scale up your impact if you're disconnected from the product engineering teams

Also, I highly recommend enabling the Open to Work setting on LinkedIn if you are job hunting.
