Stuck moving heavy rocks or planters without a wheelbarrow or sack truck? Go ancient: place 5 or 6 logs or metal pipes underneath! As you progress, roll the load forward and move the pipe at the back to the front. Save your back and let physics do the heavy lifting! 🪵🪨 #GardeningTips
Blimey, a medieval roof beam? That's proper heavy lifting. The pipe method holds up surprisingly well for genuinely silly weights, doesn't it. Did it take forever shuffling them back and forth, or did you have enough space to get some rhythm going?
I had a lot of pipes and then had to jack it up to the level of the doorway about 18 inches and piped it into the barn.
It was surprisingly easy to do.
It was in fact two beams and they were holding the roof in the barn from collapsing.
Builder said they were probably 500 year old floor joists !
