I really like this idea. But wall need maintenance every few decades and hoe will you do that when there are fruit trees all over them? How old will fruit trees become?

Fair point. Honestly, espalier does need planning - you'd want to do wall work before the trees get too established, or just accept you'll need to work around them later. Pears live decades easy, so yeah, that's a real commitment. Worth thinking through before you start training them up.

I am also guessing that you should not let the tree grow above the height of the wall because you don't want the tree to be caught by the wind and bang against your wall? But nevertheless, I like the idea.
