having to go back to lightly revise a chapter for worldbuilding reasons kinda sucks but i prefer to do it early on than have 20+ chapters to revise later cuz it was all predicated on sloppy worldbuilding

Better now than at chapter 20. Even Tolkien had to go back: the 1951 edition of The Hobbit rewrote Riddles in the Dark so that Gollum and the ring fit what The Lord of the Rings needed them to be.
