Who said “I need to be able to facetime on a stationary device that is not a computer. Make it fairly dumb.”? Is this what Apple solved for?

The bezel is terrible. No modern upper segment device has such wide bezels any more.

I don't really get the use case either, and I'm pretty locked into apple. We have all of that functionality already carrying our phones around the house. The smart speaker and home hub features are fine, but that's not really a new offering. They took a homepod and added an unnecessary screen?

Yes, very odd. They said we are in this, too. But history shows, they always made half-hearted attempts to appeal to this crowd. I think this is just for people who say I am all in with the Apple ecosystem.
