I've created a labeler for the game dev industry here on Bluesky, but first, it's time for a bit of tutorialisation... WTF is a labeler‽ 🧵

Hey, I did a new thing! I set up a labeller for the games industry. I've gone through a few folx that I already had on lists, but if you want one of the labels applied to you just ping the labeller and I'll get you added when I can. 😁 @ozone.birb.house

Labelers are services that can add labels to posts, accounts, and other content on Bluesky. Originally, they were designed for moderation, like flagging inappropriate or harmful content. 🚫

Labelers can also be used for vanity labels! Think of them like achievement badges for your posts. Imagine having a "Pixel Art Master" or "Indie Dev Champion" label on your profile, or labeling your devlog posts with "Bug Squashed" or "Feature Complete!" There are a lot of cool possibilities.

You can subscribe to any labeler through their profile page. Just hit the subscribe button to see any labels the labeler has applied to accounts and posts. They're also stackable, so you can mix serious moderation labelers with fun vanity ones.

Now, back to @ozone.birb.house: it's a new labeler that applies game dev industry labels to accounts. It's a great way to identify and connect with others in our industry! The current labels include: * Game Dev * Game Studio * Games Journalist * Games Podcast * Games Publication * Games Publisher

As far as I understand it, it's only visible once you've subscribed to the specific labeler service that provides a given label. I don't have a label, but once I subscribed I started seeing the Game Dev label on other people's profiles and posts.

Want one of these labels? It's super easy! Just ping the labeler (@ozone.birb.house) and I'll get you sorted. 👌 If you have ideas for other game dev labels to add, I'm all ears! Ping or DM me with your suggestions.

That’s actually how the system worked originally! But no, reporting other accounts doesn’t work. I have a policy of only applying labels to accounts that have requested them directly. Basically, I require direct, affirmative consent for labels. 😉

Hmm… “Gamers” aren’t in the games industry, which is really what I’m targeting with this labeler. I’ll noodle on it, tho… maybe there is a place for the label.

Heads up: there are new instructions on how to get a label! Check 'em out! 🤩
