This morning, on 34th Street near Herald Square, a dump-truck driver hit and killed a New Yorker on a bike. The victim was a delivery worker riding a JOCO rental e-bike, a low-speed pedal-assist bike. The truck driver fled the scene.

On Wednesday, the City Council is hosting a hearing on e-bike safety in New York City. The bills being discussed are not focused on protecting New Yorkers on bikes from trucks and cars.
