I'm a huge fan of CloudFront - especially since the release of CloudFront Functions that are way cheaper and faster than Lambda@Edge. In my opinion, it's the most flexible CDN solution, as you can easily tamper with the request at every step by running simple JavaScript on the edge.

Thanks! Quite a journey though - doesn't sound complicated in the first place, but with a lot of time & company reputation pressure, it was too much fun.

Being AWS savvy means having a top level of expertise in networking, security, cloud architecture, and software solutions at both high and low levels. You did a great job. I'll take a look at your books when I have time.
