I drive and park in the District pretty much every week. Not every day, but most of them. Today I took a calculated risk: park all afternoon in a 2-hr space near the Wharf and risk a $30 ticket, or pay $62 and park in the garage. The economics of parking in DC are completely broken.

Pricing a garage at double the ticket risk teaches drivers to gamble. In retail parking, free first hour drove more store visits for us. Does DC offer anything like that?

I was thinking about this today. Parked near two libraries where typical patron parking was reserved for early voting. Neither library is near Metro or accessible by bus from my previous appointment.
