I remember that plane well- I worked near there for a few years. Wonder where it ended up? Scrapped?

Just looked it up it's in Dumfries now: www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/lightning/su...

"OK, which of you pillocks forgot to check how wide the road was?"

Would have been tempted to fire up the afterburners to clear those hedges in a jiffy

I think we now need an infographic comparing the sizes of modern suburban 4x4s with twentieth-century jet fighters.

Hmm. May be worth looking at this, it may be interesting. Jings! Wonderful stuff. Not only interesting, but also hilarious.

Messrs. S. Laurel & O. N. Hardy, haulage contractors. No job too big or small!

Apart from minor things like not, you know, measuring how wide the wings were vis-a-vis the route, I especially enjoyed the footage of police casually breaking into cars with a practiced panache.

Kinda disappointed it didn’t taxi all the way there from Turnhouse under its own steam

I can only assume they flew it into Turnhouse under its own power, which would have been cool to see.
