1Password faced immediate backlash from customers this week over a $300,000 pledge in support of a Linux distro created by David Heinemeier Hansson, who has regularly published overtly racist blog posts that include comments calling for deportation of ethnic minorities in Europe.

F'ing bad-faith Karimov. People didn't just decide DHH was evil, it was based on evidence counter to a decade or two of widespread adulation. It's very OJ Simpson.

Their coward strategy instead:

"Nazi tech-bros plan: infiltrate tech industry, hire white supremacists strategy for "secret agent" white nationalists to infiltrate by paying "lip service to diversity," moving up the corporate ladder, hire other mediocre white men who believe in racial superiority to fill the companies' vacancies"

While I'd agree on that, attacking 3rd parties that are 'just' ignorant towards these statements or their effects, is one of the reasons why our society feels so split atm. Not everyone cares. That might be sad or infuriating, but maybe we should endure this inconvenience and focus on the author.

Based on that argument Hitler just had his opinion and people shouldn't have ostracized him? what a complete collection of imbeciles running a company...Another useless, socially awkward, cruel and obnoxious tech bros

A novel- ‘A person’s humanity use to mean something when the humans were the superior beings. But now, the domesticated cats are in charge of this new world order. It was written, that silence caused the humans to perish. But according to the cats, it was Groupthink.”

Good to hear!! As much as it sucks to have to switch around, the only lever we have to pull on this sort of conduct is "voting with our wallets". If people don't do that, especially in the face of noxious conduct, the entire system is broken.

"You believe in your heart that DHH is evil" Yes dude, that's how a functioning human brain works. See someone constantly saying evil shit, the logical conclusion is "boy, that guy must be evil."

That just reminds me: I've been about 85% done migrating my passwords to Apple Passwords for the past 6 months - this is good motivation to finish the process and cancel my 1Password subscription (that I've been on for over a decade).
