As you mention, the players rely mainly on base layers these days. More comfortable than an old school sweater, if less aesthetically pleasing.

Some of the players _looked_ cold. Bare arms, little warmth for shoulders & back, up to 50 overs in the field. It surprised me that at very least the bowlers didn’t have long-sleeved thermal base-layers. But I guess they are tougher (and a great deal fitter) than me!
