Do VTubers adhere to their own form of Kayfabe? Is that what's going on here?

Some Vtubers adhere to kayfabe, others don't. Sometimes on stream, sometimes off-stream as well. I know that while on-stream, I'm maintaining kayfabe and will act puzzled when someone describes anything my characters are unfamiliar with. Some Vtubers are streamers with funny faces and that's it.

It really depends on the kind of experience the streamer wants for themself and their audience. Maintaining a roleplay day after day can be taxing, and not everyone is into it either.

Oh shit. Is it even more Kayfabe than Wrestling Kayfabe? The separation of character and real person is a lot stronger if you consider the very nature of most VTubers and their various approaches character work. Whoa...

I am still very new to VTubers (and wrestling if I'm being honest (started showing interest in late 2022)), so I'm sure a lot of this is not breaking new ground.
