Just going to offer another perspective, it could be wrong. I think Carney is betting on much of the world turning away from fossil fuels, and I think he knows we're already half-screwed with climate change already. He is putting the bitumen pipeline no company will build on Smith's shoulders -

And while not ideal, if our LNG can replace Russian or Saudi etc LNG, than why give that business away to those despots? Btw, I live off grid and garden and all that, and just really wish everyone would stop using fossil fuels. Then Carney can approve 20 pipelines and it wont matter. No buyers...

I wake up each day to new moral, ethical and social austerity, slipped by us by the foxy PM, and my heart races as I anticipate a headline announcing "51st state status a fate oh complete"; (that's manglophone French).

This can be redressed by floor crossing from Liberals with environmental concerns, and a return to a minority government, where these kinds of policies can be debated and mitigated.

This sucks but we're fighting for our economic sovereignty against dominant world powers that are betting everything and dragging us into wars and technologies that are ultimately far worse for the environment.

In complete rejection of Canadian interests, he's deepening Canada's integration with the US on border, military, surveillance, 'ai'—aligning policy and setting up Canada as a major supplier of natural resources to the US "market" as the latter's militarism and domestic fascism continue to grow.

This, alongside extending an already accelerationist climate posture, pushing fossil fuel expansion and the staggeringly wasteful 'ai' scam, backing it with public funds, to protect the people behind him who own it bsky.app/profile/clim...

There is no technology on earth more damaging than dumping 2 million (2,000,000) barrels of diluted bitumen into a pristine environment. Nothing. And if you think that the way to deal with a bully is to hand over your lunch money, you'll find out - too late - how stupid that is.
