Real question: in our lifetimes has our involvement, through diplomacy, espionage, or military support, ever actually helped any of the countries we were supposedly helping, ended any wars, or otherwise brokered any lasting peace with anyone that wasn't a corporation or arms maker that paid for it?

As I understand, crafting, negotiating a cease fire & a peace deal is complex. It involves a lot of steps, skilled negotiators, and trust. Plus once there is agreement, papers signed, a third party needs to monitor the situation going forward to make sure both parties are abiding by the agreement.

We have been down this road in 1938 when Neville Chamberlin, UK PM, gave the Sudetenland to Hitler for "Peace in Our Time" Didn't work out spectacularly well then and won't work today

Would those be anything like the security guarantees Ukraine received in 1994? Because those don't seem to have worked really well for Ukraine.

He committed both personal and national suicide the day he sent his Nazi Horde into Ukraine; it's just taking a few years to play out. Vladdy has fucked his country so profoundly and in so many ways, it's almost certainly irreversible.

If Trump or Vance decides to go all in on direct support for the Nazis and gets away with it, it's *possible* that could change, but that's unlikely for a lot of reasons, and in any case it's very likely too late to save Vladdy or his vast *sewer* of an empire.
