Last July the GOP left two weeks early for summer break just to avoid voting on the Epstein Files. Now they Hold off swearing her in just a few days before a projected Government shut down. Well they can't be expect to be bothered with swearing her in with the Government in such crisis.

"House Speaker Mike Johnson says it’s 'standard practice' to swear in new members once the House is in session, and Grijalva is expected to be sworn in when the chamber resumes business next week."

This sounds better than the first excuse that they needed to wait until the results are certified, which will happen on October 16 or thereabouts. That one would've been a total anomaly since no other rep has had to wait for that to be sworn in. So at least they've abandoned that strategy, if true.

Re: midterms. First they’re going to try to physically stop people from voting via ICE. Then they’re going to try to claim fraud and throw out ballots. Then they’re going to do this shit and refuse to swear in Dem candidates that won. I hope we’re ready.

Johnson has to call a session to reopen the gov't. When he does he will also have to swear her in, face the discharge petition, and hold a vote on releasing the Epstein files. Gonna be a long week for Mr. "I didn't see the President say that" when that happens.

Look how long the Senate sat on getting a Supreme Court replacement, when the President was a Democrat but the Senate was controlled by Republicans. They don’t care.

Old enough to remember when Ron DeSantis didn't schedule a special election until 9 months after Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) died in office. Just like now, the GOP held a slim majority. Can you get more anti-democratic than denying people representation?

Democrats should swear her in without Johnson. They don’t follow laws or precedent, so just do it. We need to set up a parallel governmental system based on how we were structured prior to Trump, so that our government will be able to transition after we rid ourselves of the corrupt republicans.

As much as he tries to hide the Epstein files the more people will demand them the the documents will be released by the estate...grow up Johnson and do your job for the people not for DJT.

The speaker should never have the power to block a democraticly elected official from taking up their post. Add this to his list of charges in his upcoming treason trial.

Perhaps a little Calvin ball. Simply say, the prior representative of the state was seated, she is simply replacing the prior representative, so is seated by virtue of simply being an extension of the prior representative's term of office.
