When the label on the reel to reel says "too poor quality to transfer"

It transferred fine, and it sounds fine! But the tape basically fell apart, and so that was that, the last run through a machine for this 50 year old tape. I'll make sure it exists in a dozen places by tonight.

This is a 1975 Friar's Dinner/Roast of George Burns and Walter Matthau, clearly in support of the movie The Sunshine Boys, which came out that year. They sound vibrant. Burns is 79.

I’m usually shocked to learn how young celebrities were when I was a kid. But with Burns I’m always shocked when I’m reminded how old he was when he was a celebrity in my youth in the 1980s.
