I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

Site's getting hammered because of this but: web.archive.org/web/*/https:... Of course we saved it.

Not a conspiracy. Not pattern matching. Mention a document that makes people look silly, and they will wipe years of documents and paid-for research to save face. Only some forward thinking to save a copy prevents oblvion. Or as the Internet Archive calls it, Friday. Anyway. archive.org/donate

For folks coming to this thread later, I've gone ahead and made a CSV of hundreds of energysaver articles that are gone as of July 2026. archive.org/download/ene... is a direct link to the list. archive.org/details/ener... is the CSV and the HTML.

Not one single page on energy saving relating to air conditioning.
