We don't usually post in our main feed these sorts of things but regarding the veteran that's set to be put to death by firing squad, we'd like to state: Is there anyway he could just spend life in prison? Killing him won't change anything.

Looking into his eyes (the images) you can clearly see he does not want to die but neither did those soldiers who died; I understand. What does it really mean when we dole someone a fate so cruel? We sacrifice our humanity to feel an ounce of justice but in the end all we'll feel is emptiness.

There will be no justice, only a murder. Are we who pass our judgements not the just and righteous? How can we call ourselves righteous and just if we will murder a man on a live feed through the deployment of multiple gunmen. His crimes are great, yes.

but we cannot turn back the hands of time and undo what's already been done. Watching this man be murdered on live feed would do nothing more than reopen the wounds of all of those who suffered that day.

Forcing all of his victims and their families to realize that his murder will/would have brought no sense of peace to them. In the moments leading up to the execution they may feel anticipation as they await justice to be delivered and upon the summation of deliverance life will proceed as it does.

Only then would the victims and their families understand the harrowing emptiness of a cruel reality: his death changes nothing. I do not support murders. I simply believe that no life is too insignificant to be considered.
