One quibble - the author says that the Nazi callback is an instance of "shitposting". I think that's part of it, but another big part is that, increasingly, these assholes ACTUALLY BELIEVE IT. They're not just trolling - this is what they believe. That's an existential problem for the USA.

Both the @nytimes.com & NYT columnist Ezra Klein need to be made to answer for platforming & amplifying Rufo. They’re complicit in smuggling his vicious mix of racism & fascism into the mainstream as legitimate thoughts for debate rather than the hateful & divisive ideologies they are.

Do "respectable" conservatives deny evolution? Because that's who Rufo is. He was a director at the Discovery Institute. That fact is missing in all reports about this guy.
