I generally play only on Switch. I want to avoid AI, I have definitely seen some ai slop in the eShop. I want to avoid it and mostly do, but I do like playing cheaper indie releases. I want an AI ban, but at minimum, there should be requirements that note something is AI. Good luck with your game.
This catch-22 situation doesn't get enough coverage. It happens on kickstarter too. As Indie devs, showing your game early and often is a requirement to get traction and prove market-fit. But when you strike the right chord, bad AI clones will destroy your market before you get a chance.
I think this is why it’s important to curate your audience. Like, kinda like when you trust an author of a book or a movie that you always read/watch their work, small game creators need it too.
But Steam has no incentive to change it because it makes them money and they are so big and have so little competition that trying to use economic means to change things probably wouldn't work.
Speaking as a customer: They do a very good job at burying trash releases in their storefront, so I don't think I've ever managed to find one organically on there (outside of maybe the discovery queue, but very rarely there too).
I think Steam is strongly incentivised to keep surfacing quality, …
Loved it. Especially the slight camera angle shift when you minimize the UI. And optimization is crazy, considering how much stuff was going on. Score multiplier upgrade is definitely a bit too OP, but if it maxes out way before endgame, then I guess it's fine. Can't wait for more.
