It always rubs me the wrong way and turns me off a book when just because the protagonist is queer, every single friend they have is a perfect representation of each color of the pride flag. Tokenism still feels weird even when queer people are writing it

Most the time the issue I have is that they don't actually matter as to why they're queer in the story but there's a ton of fanfare to announce it using 2020s terminology. A character will be transfem but is never given lines other than "gosh i love taking hrt and being she/her"

Also gonna point out most the time regardless of the author's identity they love to write the only black woman in the story as stone butch
